Major boost to artificial intelligence, Facebook, Amazon, Google, IBM and Microsoft join hands in a historic partnership!

Five of world’s largest technology companies came together on Thursday to announce the launch of the new Partnership on AI. The group is tasked with conducting research and promoting best practices in artificial intelligence. The new group augments projects already undertaken at individual companies and provides a forum for sharing valuable advice.

The group will get financial support from the initial tech companies that are members of the group. The group’s membership and involvement are expected to increase in the coming years. Not just the big companies but user activists and non-profits are expected to be part of the group.

I always wanted a big international organization to come up where all the big tech companies could work together. And it is finally happening, at least for artificial intelligence. Though many big tech names like Apple, Twitter, Intel and Baidu are missing from the group.

The group plans to make discussions and minutes from meetings publicly available.
