Lately, I have been really attracted towards Buddhism, their thoughts and their ways. I read some books by His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama, Tenzin Gyatso. I learned a lot and it helps me a lot in my day-to-day life now. Did some Google search and found that I was really living in myths and not facts about Buddhism.
Here is what I learned today:
All Buddhists are not vegetarians (I had a guess because duh, JAPAN!). In fact, Buddha was never against any type of meal. In the past, there have been wars between Buddhists and non-Buddhists. Still, I think that the principle of non-violence is arguably more central to Buddhism than any other major religion. People would always drag you to their own level, so violence can happen sometimes.
Buddhism is both a philosophy and a religion. According to Buddhism, after someone dies, a soul can never transmigrate into a new body. It is the energy created by one life that is reborn into another. I knew that Dalai Lama is a title and not a name of a person, but I was not aware that he is only seen as the political leader of people Tibet and not the head of any of the sects of Buddhism. Worshipping idols is not mandatory. Some do and others don’t. Some just pay respects but not worship idols. I might sound a bit dumb to you, but I guessed you might not know some of these. So I shared them with you!
