Life Situations: handle with care

We face a lot of situations every day. We react to them. But it is after some time that we realise what we did and maybe we could have done the other thing. Maybe it could have saved some one or brought you a fortune.

Let’s go back in history. Not much just 100 years back. There was a 16-year-old boy who left his school. He lived a bohemian life in Vienna, financed by orphan’s benefits and support from his mother. He worked as a casual labourer and a painter, selling watercolours of Vienna’s sights. Vienna’s Academy of Fine Arts rejected him in 1907 and again in 1908. The director recommended that he can study architecture, which was also an interest, but he lacked academic credentials as he had not finished secondary school. 31 years later Germany invaded Poland and started the World War II under his command. Yes, the 16-year-old boy rejected in 1907 was Adolf Hitler.

Let’s talk about another person. Steve Jobs. Known for his boundless innovations, but also because of his emphatic comeback from an almost irrecoverable failure. Jobs found success in his 20s when Apple became a massive empire, but when he was 30, Apple’s board of directors decided to fire him. Only a few can describe the feeling of being fired from their own company.

Undaunted by the failure, Jobs founded a new company, NeXT, which was eventually acquired by Apple. Once back at Apple, Jobs proved his capacity for greatness by reinventing the company’s image and taking the Apple brand to new heights. And then we got iPod, iPhone and iPad!These people contributed (in both negative and positive way respectively) to what we have today in this world.The USA might have never made the N-bomb if there would not have been a World War because there would have been no need of it.

What if Hitler had continued his life on the street, never joined the army and never went into politics? So what if Steve Jobs never found NeXT? What if he had decided to just quit the computer industry and relax back on a beach? Their life would have been completely different.

Life situations are unexpected events.

They won’t knock on your door and say “Delivery time!”. They would straight away drop the big metal box on your house — half destroying it. And then you would get in what people say I have too — stress! And then the doctor would give you some medicine, you will be visiting the psychiatrist once in a while and live a completely different life. So why not just handle the situation in a way which does not harm you and the others. Of course, every reaction of yours would have a negative impact on one or the other thing — but how you deal with it is the thing!

  • First and foremost, admit the thing. That is accept it.
  • Second, don’t run from it.
  • Third, give it a thought. A neutral thought and not the one which is too leftist or rightist.
  • Fourth, give it another thought.
  • Fifth, give your thought a thought.
  • Sixth, accept your reaction.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.
  • Maintain your own and other’s reputation.

Some situations require an instant reaction. Try to do what’s best.
